Motor revision with the help of a checklist

The construction of an engine for the Puch 500 or Haflinger can only be described to a limited extent in a contribution, a joint overhaul with an experienced screwdriver is preferable to all theory. Consider that the parts are expensive and rare, the probability of error can usually be reduced by experience. Many thanks to the experienced screwdrivers, especially Erwin and Heinz for their always open ear and their esteemed answers. And to the classic car practice with a comprehensive contribution about the small boxer engine.

Time: 20 – 40 hours

What a pigry !

The sealing sleeve between the gearbox and the half axle is defective. How do you notice that? At the latest at the oil pool under the car, or at the smell of the burning oil on the exhaust parts. Better even more preventive during inspection, then at the beginning cracks in the rubber. But actually in this article it is only 4 small screws…

The Dynastarter – from charging and starting

In this article we deal with topics such as field coils, anchors, coals, but then also air gap, anchor turning off, collector saw, closed ball bearings, insulator discs, strong soldering iron, counter holder fan wheel, abrasion, 20 amperes… Our thanks go to our 2 Bosch specialists G&G.

Who doesn’t know? Poor braking effect, grinding noise, long pedal path

What does the brake anchor plate and the setting eccentric have to do with it? The anchor plate is rarely straight and the eccentrics do not always perform their function. Our thanks for the impulse for this project goes to an experienced “bunny” in the Ruhr area.

The ignition system, the ignition distributor

It jerks, shoots, jumps badly. Small parts, great effect, and not always it is the carburetor.

The interaction of the small parts in the ignition system is important. You decisively decide on a good engine run. Is the contact set to the correct distance? Is the ignition time correct? What does the spark plug look like, does the electrode distance fit? We want to address these issues in this article.
